Monthly on the first Tuesday
Old Station Inn, Hallatrow
In the early 1980s a group was formed called the "SomWilAvAm" named from the three counties Somerset, Wiltshire and Avon Amateurs. Primarily this group raised interest and money to build the GB3WR repeater which was initially installed on the Mendip TV site near Wells and now operates at Charterhouse on the old Home Office site.
This group always met on the first Tuesday of each month at the George Inn, Norton St. Philip. Many years later some of the members still meet on the first Tuesday in a pub, now the Old Station at Hallatrow, for a few beers and informal chat about anything.
There is no committee, constitution, subs or anything else that could make it a club but it is very rare for noone to turn up. There is an email mailing list and reminders are sent out a few days before to try and ensure at least a few turn up.
All are welcome and we do occasionally have a new face appear.
